Title: 'The Works' - new album
Post by: Douglas on Thursday, April 21 2011 12:42AM GMT-1
Thought there should be a topic for it.  :)

http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/email/newsletter/1410825713  - (right at the bottom)

Says it will be released in July. Although I think I've heard there will be copies at the birthday gig.

I wonder what tracks will be on it. Tom Padget for sure. :)

I read that newsletter last night and completely failed to notice that bit of information.

It's brilliant! :aemo_spibodjmp: The bits where things are different have been keeping me on my toes this morning! Lovely packaging, too, I'm glad I managed to get a limited edition one.

I've put it on my MP3 player (I hope - the doings seemed a bit strange).  I'll listen to it on the way home, and can't wait.  I could volunteer to do more repairs this afternoon and listen then...

It might be a bit difficult to find because as the information isn't out in the big wide internet world yet everything comes up as "unknown" unless you put the information in manually.

yes, this was strange. The CD player in my car gave me all the track listings (which it  has not done for any other CD), but the computer listed it all as unknown...

Pad texted me durig the interval on Wednesday to see if I wanted a CD, and I said I'd get one tonight.  Silly me!

Oh no!

I thought I should probably come up with something more eloquent than "it's brilliant", but my head is still fuzzy (probably fuzzier than it was yesterday ::)), and I don't want to be cruel to people who haven't got it yet. I've been trying to work out if I have any favourites, and if I do, they are Brown Adam (I'll always have a soft spot for it, because they played it the first time I saw them (in 2004), and it was the one that really grabbed me and made me realise I was witnessing something really special), Rochdale Coconut Dance (because it's Rochdale Coconut Dance!) or Haul Away (because I LOVE JIGGERY POKERWORK!!!)

And that's me being eloquent. I think I need coffee.

Strange. When I put the CD into my comp for the first time (early on Wednesday morning), it recognised everything immediately.

Really interesting and enjoyable stuff. I too am pleased to see the Bryan Adams song in there. And lovely version of Robin Hood. Well done everyone. :D

Just putting my copy onto iTunes before I have a listen. Don't they look cold in the photos?  Just a tiny niggle, but it happens to me all the time these days - the text in the booklet is very small.  Think I may have to keep a magnifier with my CD collection!

...and iTunes has picked up all the track names, and classified the album as "Traditional".

I have started having the same problem, Shelley - trouble is I keep forgetting to take my specs wherever I go. I do have a bookmark which is a magnifier too - that comes in very handy. My arms are now not quite long enough for small print.

Does anybody know if the new album will become available for sale at shops where people from abroad can order it or at iTunes? Would love to buy a copy.

Regards,

Joanna.

I am sure it will - but not due for release until summer - maybe July?

Let me know if you spot any mistakes. :)

Hi Douglas - well done, it looks good. Only mistake I can see is you've put that recording started in December 2011 and we're not there yet!

Does anyone know the running time?

According to my calculations (which may not be accurate, as I'm not feeling very awake yet!), it should be 52:09

argh! So jealous of you all having the CD. I'd have loved to catch them in Oxford but unfortunately I've been way too busy with uni stuff. Is there no other way to get hold of the album/ETA on when there will be? I'm really impatient ):

I got mine during the interval in Cambridge, but they ran out of time so could not sign it.  They offered to do so after the show but there was a huge queue then and I had a train to catch.  Never mind, the music is the main thing and I am very pleased with the album - and they were very pleasant to talk to for about 30 seconds.  :)

Judging by other postings here I am lucky to have a copy  :)  It also  inspired me later to buy some of their earlier albums (I already had "Vagabond").

It seems that there's a bonus track exclusive to iTunes. It's 'Sportsman's Hornpipe' and it'll cost you 79p!
