Does anyone know who will be supporting Bellowhead on their November tour (at The Sage, Gateshead)?

Just seen the newsletter - looks like it's going to be Ahab. I seem to remember liking them when they played at Cropredy, but I'm not sure if it's them I remember! (Trunkles might have something to say on the matter...)

I think my comment (explosion) on Twitter says it all....I'm VERY unhappy. >:(

Oh. Ahab.

When you're a kid, they tell you it's all "grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it." But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.

Hope I like them, bad support makes the whole night for less enjoyable for me. At least I'll see them enough times, like most bands they should grow on me...

I assume we're not talking Ahab the German 'funeral doom metal' band?

I'm getting bored of these guys now. Too much publicity can put you off bands.

Oh come on people, give the guys a break! I thought they were enjoyable at Cropredy. (Okay it's over a year ago and my memory is not wonderful) but I have heard and seen much worse. Surely Bellowhead would not have agreed to have them as support if they were that bad? (Okay, for all I know, they have no say in the matter).

Please, let's support up and coming bands. That's what it's all about. Isn't it?  ???
All along and down a lea!

Upcoming gigs:

Cropredy, August 7 - 9
Simpson Cutting & Kerr, 23.09. Cardiff
10cc, 8th October, Swansea Grand Theatre
Show of Hands, Cardiff, November 20th
Bellowhead, Cardiff, 26 November

I was wondering how much say bands get in their support acts. Can anyone shed any light on it, please?

I've just remembered I have seen these. At Ely when I was on my work experience, that day with the Martin Simpson band - they were on a bit before. I didn't dislike them, I can remember that much!

I agree, I fully support up and coming "folk" bands. AHAB is not one of those.

Yes, but to be fair Bellowhead aren't really a proper traditional folk band. Which is why the support didn't really work last time, didn't fit with the crowd.

I guess you need something inbetween.
