You Tubes!
« on: Thursday, November 22 2007 12:18PM GMT-1 »

I thought, since there's lots of John and Jon on You Tube (except the legendary wellie clad performance from Glasto, now disappeared, which was possibly not supposed to be there in the first place) it would be nice to gather them together for our easy viewing pleasure  ;D

These are all from the very hot tent at Wallingford Bunkfest 2005

Excellent idea, Fi.  8)

Here's Sloe Gin Set from Cambridge Folkfest in 2003. Which incidentally would probably be the first time I saw them. Ah, how young we all were then! Well, some of us...

You're welcome.

There's some really good Bellowhead stuff on YouTube too. Though methinks that should have a different thread maybe...

Oh, and for those of us who are sorely missing the Glasto version sadly disappeared from YouTube (which would be all of us, I guess), here's a (non-Glasto) version of Captain Ward. A bit distant, but excellent nonetheless:

Ooh, thanks firehazard! I've been dying to hear Captain Ward again since Oxford :D

Edit: Now you've gone and done it - I need to *do* things this evening, not spent it reliving many fantastic performances on youtube...!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlHxA1koyLI&feature=related - A long clip including Old Maui, some tunes (didn't catch which ones) and Captain Ward :)

Oh I know what you mean, firebird82. I'm not sure that YouTube has had a positive effect on my creative output. ;)
That's a great clip, thanks!  8)
But now I just have to do some work...
Oh, go on, here's another longish bit from the same gig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkT-UO9FKNI

SIMMO7TS was at it again at Shepley - J&J playing the original Princess Royal Set (well, I had to choose my favourite one, didn't I!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9S6pHgAn6g&feature=related

Plenty more there too...though it wuld be nice if he would pay a bit of attention to spelling  ::) Hoping for some Bellowhead footage as well, because he was certainly filming, although we may have been dancing in the way  :-[

I made a recording of Bellowhead at The Big Session (If You Will Not Have Me.......) it's not great but I've seen a lot worse on YouTube.
I started to post it on there, but when I got to the page which said
"Do not upload any TV shows, music videos, music concerts or commercials without permission unless they consist entirely of content you created yourself." I stopped to think, oh should I be doing this.  :o

Is it considered OK to post vids of bands without asking pemission from the band themselves? I am such a law abiding person, I never do anything if I think it may not be allowed!   ;D

I kinda read that if you filmed it you created the 'content'....sort of..but I may have misunderstood.
Like erm...if you made a film would the content be yours or the actors???

now I've confused myself... :o

Can someone clarify if its ok?
(I'll always take something down if its not allowed)

I have put various bits and pieces of J&J and Bellowhead up onto YouTube. I have given them copies of the films in the past too. I wouldn't want to put words into their mouths but they've not been cross with me for doing so so far. (Actually, I was once told that there was a link from J&J's Facebook account to one of those films...)

In terms of the YouTube warning, I think that if you filmed it, you created the content. The artists and venue have a right to stop people filming during a concert and it is up to them whether they exercise that right at the time. So if you were allowed to film a concert then the subsequent content is yours.

Cheers
