Bellowhead on Folk Proms

Just had this from BBC 4:

BBC FOUR Sunday 20 July 2008  BBC PROMS 2008 Proms On Four – Folk Day Sunday 20 July  7.30-9.15pm BBC FOUR

BBC Four begins its regular Sunday and Monday night broadcasts of the BBC Proms with a live concert showcasing some of Britain's most celebrated folk talent.

Presented by Charles Hazlewood, the concert is the culmination of the first Folk Day at the Proms, celebrating the diversity and influence of folk music. It features sets by three artists who are continuing to revive and reinterpret the traditions of folk music.

On a specially built stage in the centre of the arena where the Prommers usually stand, the first half of the concert opens with 23-year-old singer and folk-fiddler Bella Hardy, followed by singer-songwriter Martin Simpson, whose instantly recognisable style has helped define the English steel string acoustic guitar sound.

The second half of the concert returns to the main stage for a performance by boisterous 11-piece big band Bellowhead, winners of the 2008 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for best live act.

Don't miss it!!
