Just had a letter from Boots' Opticians telling me my eye test is due, with a voucher for a free eye test, and an offer of two pairs of single vision glasses for £79.  Unfortunately I need varifocals, but this all sounds good!

Collected my two pair on Friday, ready in less than a week and very happy with them. Have suggested to Carol that she gives them a try as hers are much more expensive.

Been down in the caravan, just below Glastonbury Tor since Friday afternoon. Went for a meal in Hundred Monkeys (Veggie restaurant) yesterday as it was Carol's birthday and just chilling today and as much of tomorrow as possible before heading back.

Hope everyone is having a good time.

Some lucky finds in the Stockport branch of The Works today - Megan bought the Hunger Games trilogy for £7.99 and I picked up the BBC's adaptation of "Busman's Honeymoon" and "Fry's English Delight" on CD for £3.99 each. Result!

Just had first proper picnic of the year by the fountains in the town centre- a sign that summer must return as boys & i spend loads of time either there or on the river bank once there's enough sunshine to be out of the house for a few hours in a row (takes at least 1 hr each way to get them organised into getting there- we have to visit every playpark en route).
Have managed about 5 miles of scooting from them including the distance to town and back so am lookng forward to a peaceful evening:)

Eeep, have just used lastminute.com for the first time to book a hotel for our gig trip to London next month. Hope it's OK, as it's the cheapest 4* by a mile... *worried but also excited*. Mostly I am excited about not having to dash off immediately post-gig to get on the slow train home   :)

(Back at work in the morning!)

Now at the end of a fabulous Bailey Sisters weekend - we went on the Manchester to Hathersage Folk Train yesterday, but couldn't get into the coach with the band on the journey out.  We ended up entertaining the people in our carriage instead and they didn't seem to mind! The band played a set in a pub in Hathersage (pub served delicious food - we had mushroom, brie and cranberry wellington with loads of veg) and we managed to be in the right carriage on the way back.  It was great fun.  In the evening we were one of the support slots for Flossie Malavialle at Sale Folk Club - she brought her own PA and did all the sound so was by far the most glamorous sound engineer we've ever had!  She was a hoot as always.

Today has been spent at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester - we had a one hour gig there this afternoon, but got there early to do some workshop planning for Festival at the Edge, drink coffee and generally chill.  The gig went really well (our first of 2012) and we sold several CDs.  It is an amazing space to perform in with fantastic acoustics - it was like singing in a cathedral.

Now I need to plan a French lesson ......

Went along to the Bastard English Session at the Isis on Friday dragging flatmate in my wake. Had a great evening (once we got there after randomly going round random roundabouts all the way. I suspect my mind was a little elsewhere... :o) lot of songs and tunes, played a lot more than I thought I would and then we hit pop a clock and continued to have a good time (non-folkie flatmate later said it was great to suddenly encounter songs she knew even though she enjoyed listening to the rest.) I'm somewhat surprised and faintly embarrassed to find that I knew the words to the vast majority of these songs...

If I'm correct, at this particular session, after a certain time (10:30, 11pm ish) they move from singing/playing traditional stuff to cheesy pop covers. I've only been once, and it was interesting...

Is that the Isis pub in Oxford?

Why don't I know about this session???  When is it? - I'll at the next one I can make and will start practicing some cheesy pop covers straight away!!
